A minimum of 40 hours total flight time that includes at least 20 hours of flight training received from an certified instructor with 10 hours of solo flight training in the listed areas of operation under 14 CFR § 61.109

The dual portion of the training consists of:

3 hours of cross-country flight training in a single-engine airplane;

3 hours of night flight training in a single-engine airplane that includes:

One cross-country flight of over 100 nautical miles total distance and
-
10 takeoffs and 10 full-stop landings that involve a flight in the traffic pattern at a tower-controlled airport.

3 hours of instrument (under the hood) flight training; and
-
3 hours of practical test preparation.

The solo portion of the training consists of:

10 hours of solo flight time in a single-engine airplane that includes (at a minimum):
-
5 hours of solo cross-country time with a total distance of 150 nautical miles and a full stop landing at 3 points; and
-
1 segment of the flight consisting of a straight-line distance of more than 50 nautical miles between the takeoff and landing locations.

3 takeoffs and 3 full-stop landings that involve a flight in the traffic pattern at a tower-controlled airport.
